BATON ROUGE, La. — Cajun Navy 2016 has sent a team of certified volunteers to Kerr County, Texas, to support local emergency responders with swift water rescue and recovery efforts after severe flooding hit the Center Point area.
This deployment brings the volunteer group back to the same community they assisted during devastating floods last year, where they worked alongside local agencies to find survivors, perform water rescues, and help the area recover.
"Our hearts are with the families and communities affected by this disaster," said Jon Bridgers Sr., founder of Cajun Navy 2016. "When people are facing their darkest moments, our mission is simple: show up, help where we're needed, and stand alongside first responders and local officials until the job is done."
While many volunteer groups assist with disaster relief, every Cajun Navy 2016 member sent on water missions has undergone professional swift water rescue training and certification. This specialized preparation ensures volunteers can safely navigate hazardous floodwaters while coordinating directly with emergency management and local authorities.
The teams are prepared to perform rescues in fast-moving water, search impacted neighborhoods, and assist with recovery tasks as requested by local officials.
Cajun Navy 2016 has responded to natural disasters nationwide, offering critical aid during floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, and other crises.
