(The Center Square) – Louisiana's top education official is asking local school leaders to make protecting classroom instruction a priority this school year, saying disruptions and bullying can undermine the academic gains the state has made in recent years.

In a letter released Monday, state Superintendent of Education Cade Brumley urged school leaders to enforce existing student discipline and anti-bullying policies, not adopt new ones.
