MINDEN, La. - The Minden City Council adopted a new fee schedule for the Minden Recreation Complex as part of a major effort to attract more events to the region.
The city is partnering with Airstream Ventures, a Florida-based firm, to lead the charge in bringing new activities to the area. Mayor Nick Cox met with the company to develop the pricing plan to ensure the city is prepared for upcoming negotiations with event organizers.
"The one thing they do not have from this council at the moment is a fee structure," Cox said. "And so in order to make a deal, you have to know how much the deal is going to cost. So at this time, we're presenting to the council... seeking possible approval of that fee schedule."
Under the newly adopted plan, residents will pay $25 per hour on weekdays, while non-residents will be charged $40 per hour. On weekends, the rate for Minden residents increases to $40 per hour, and the rate for non-residents is set at $60 per hour.
Officials noted that baseball and softball tournaments are already heavily lined up for the complex. The city’s broader strategy for regional tourism also includes plans to utilize the airport for motorsports and Caddo Lake for marathons.
