PANOLA COUNTY, Texas — A Beckville man was arrested Friday night after a pursuit that ended in a rollover crash near the Louisiana state line.
Â
According to the Panola County Sheriff's Office, dispatchers received a 911 call around 10:30 p.m. from a woman who said she had jumped from a moving vehicle driven by her brother, Napolean Cordell "Polie" Lockett, and was injured.
Â
Deputies located Lockett's vehicle about 20 minutes later and attempted a traffic stop. Authorities said Lockett fled before crashing on County Road 455.
After the crash, deputies discovered Lockett had suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was transported to a Shreveport hospital, treated for a non-life-threatening injury and later booked into the Panola County Detention Center.
Â
Lockett was charged with evading arrest with a vehicle, violating a conditional bond in a family violence case and an outstanding grand jury indictment for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Â
The woman was taken to a Longview hospital for treatment. The Texas Highway Patrol is investigating the crash, and additional charges are possible.
