SHREVEPORT, La. — Community members are demanding answers after the Southern Hills pool failed to open for the summer swim season. During Tuesday's City Council meeting, officials from the Department of Parks and Recreation addressed concerns regarding the ongoing project.

SPAR leaders explained that the work has expanded significantly beyond initial renovations, including deck replacements, a new plunge pool for the water slide, and major upgrades to the Olympic-sized facility. Construction has been further hampered by heavy rainfall totaling more than 16 inches since late June and regional concrete supply shortages. Officials now project an opening within two weeks, promising the pool will remain operational through Labor Day.
