NEAR COUSHATTA, La. -- A 3.4 magnitude earthquake rattled parts of Red River Parish this afternoon, with some people reporting their furniture shaking and photos falling off the wall when the tremor hit. 

The U.S. Geological Society shows the quake originating just over 4 miles north northwest of Edgefield, which is north of Coushatta. It was about 5 miles deep.
