NEAR COUSHATTA, La. -- A 3.4 magnitude earthquake rattled parts of Red River Parish this afternoon, with some people reporting their furniture shaking and photos falling off the wall when the tremor hit.Â
The U.S. Geological Society shows the quake originating just over 4 miles north northwest of Edgefield, which is north of Coushatta. It was about 5 miles deep.Â
The earthquake comes just five months after a 4.9 magnitude hit in about the same location. It was initially reported as a 4.4 magnitude then upgraded.Â
There have been a series of small earthquakes reported in Red River and neighboring DeSoto Parish in recent months.Â
KTBS 3 Weather Watcher Hannah Worsham told Meteorologist Joe Haynes that she felt today's earthquake, which was reported around 3 p.m. Worsham said the tremor caused her TV to shake and pictures to fall off the wall.Â
Other residents in Red River Parish and even east DeSoto Parish are reporting similar experiences on social media. Many posted that their homes were shaken by the event.Â
