SHREVEPORT, La. - Emergency medical professionals from across Louisiana and neighboring states are gathering in Shreveport this week for the 2026 Louisiana State EMS Education Conference & Expo, a major event focused on advancing emergency medical services through education, leadership, and innovation.
The conference takes place from Tuesday to Saturday at the Shreveport Convention Center.
Held under the theme "Honoring Our Past: Forging Our Future," the event will bring together emergency medical responders, educators, healthcare professionals, and industry leaders to explore the latest developments in prehospital emergency care.
Organizers say the conference focuses on strengthening emergency medical services through clinical excellence, workforce sustainability, leadership development, and emerging technologies that support patient care in the field.
"We're educating our EMS personnel," said John Lane, president of LANREMT, "bringing forth the latest, greatest information, the latest, greatest technology. As you know, medicine evolves every day, and so does the technology and the tools and the things that today's paramedics and medics utilize. They're so far advanced. And so that's why our title, our theme, is honoring our past and forging our future."
Attendees include Emergency Medical Responders (EMRs), Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs), paramedics, EMS educators, supervisors, emergency managers, nurses, physicians, public safety officials, students, and healthcare industry representatives.
