SHREVEPORT, La. - Louisiana voters will head to the polls Saturday to decide several high-stakes runoff races following the state's recent party primaries. The ballot features major federal matchups alongside critical municipal decisions and local funding measures across the state.
The headline event is the race for the U.S. Senate seat. On the Republican side, U.S. Rep. Julia Letlow faces State Treasurer John Fleming in a highly competitive runoff. The Democratic nomination will be decided between candidates Jamie Davis and Gary Crockett.
In Stonewall, the municipal election on May 16 ended in a dead heat between the two candidates. Incumbent Mayor Ken Kaffka and former Mayor Randy Rogers each received the exact same number of votes. Since both candidates decided against paying for a recount, a rare tie-breaker re-election was triggered.
Kaffka is seeking a second consecutive term in office. Rogers previously served as mayor from 2018 to 2022. The two faced each other in the 2022 election when Kaffka won the seat.
Polls across Louisiana open at 7 a.m. Saturday and will close at 8 p.m. Voters must bring a valid photo identification to their polling place to cast a ballot.Â
