STONEWALL, La. — Randal “Randy” Rodgers will be Stonewall’s next mayor after defeating incumbent Kenneth “Ken” Kaffka by 18 votes in Saturday’s runoff election.
Rodgers received 348 votes, while Kaffka received 330, according to unofficial election results. A total of 678 ballots were cast.
The two were forced into a runoff after a tie vote in the primary election in May.
Rodgers said he is grateful for the support of Stonewall voters and humbled by the opportunity to serve.
“I’m honored. I’m humbled. It’s touching that people would have faith in you to do something like being mayor of a small town,” Rodgers said.
Rodgers said his first priorities in office will be repairing roads and improving drainage throughout the town.
“The streets are the main thing that Stonewall has to offer the residents,” Rodgers said. “I’m going to try to get the streets in good shape, repair the roads that we can, clean the ditches and make sure that they’re draining properly.”
Rodgers is expected to be sworn into office Wednesday. He thanked the Stonewall community for its support and said he looks forward to getting to work.
