SHREVEPORT, La. - Shreveport officials and community leaders gathered Tuesday to celebrate the official reopening of Fire Station No. 20.
The event marked the return of full service to the fire station following support from the City of Shreveport, the Port of Caddo-Bossier and the Shreveport Fire Department.
The improved station has individual rooms, a new workout room, a storm shelter, and other amenities for firefighters. The department also has a new engine to better serve the community.
"The journey has been very long, very grueling," said Chief Clarence Reese Jr. "But we wanted to make sure that our firefighters were going back into a fire station that was safe and also that citizens had somewhere they could feel comfortable coming and enjoying."
