SHREVEPORT, La. - Shreveport police have arrested two brothers following an extensive investigation into an organized retail theft operation across multiple businesses in the city.Â
Ladarrius Bowers, 22, was arrested and charged with six counts of organized retail theft. Jadarrius Bowers, 17, was charged with one count of theft.Â
The thefts resulted in thousands of dollars in stolen merchandise at stores like Kroger, Sam's Club, Target, Best Buy, Lowe's and Home Depot.Â
The investigation began last summer when property crimes detectives responded to a shoplifting incident. Through surveillance footage and information provided through Crime Stoppers, detectives identified the suspects and linked them to the series of thefts.Â
Investigators realized the suspects were responsible for nine reported thefts in Shreveport and that many of the stolen items were resold for profit.Â
A search warrant was obtained and executed in the 9200 block of Emmett Drive when the Bowers were taken into custody and made statements to detectives about the thefts.Â
The investigation revealed similar incidents in Bossier City. The Bossier City Police Department is now conducting its own investigation and expected to pursue charges related to the thefts in their jurisdiction.Â
