TEXARKANA, Ark. — Two people are facing a long list of felony charges after a stabbing investigation on Friday morning uncovered narcotics and weapons inside a local home.
Officers with the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department began the investigation around 7:30 a.m. Friday, after a stabbing victim arrived at a local hospital. Investigators determined the incident happened at a home in the 2600 block of Short Kniffen Street.
Police received reports that a second victim might be trapped inside the home and that a suspect was armed with a handgun and threatening to shoot people. Investigators say when the officers arrived at the residence, they heard a disturbance inside. Officials say officers forced their way into the home, after fearing for the safety of those inside.
Inside, police say they found Briuana Soloman and Trevon Ford. Investigators say while Ford did not require medical attention, officers discovered he had several outstanding felony and misdemeanor warrants. Soloman was immediately arrested for first-degree battery.
After securing the scene, detectives obtained a search warrant for the residence. During the search, officers say they located two firearms and a variety of narcotics.
Both Soloman and Ford now face several new charges, including:
Simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms
Two counts of possession of a firearm by certain persons
Possession of a schedule II controlled substance with intent to distribute
Possession of a schedule IV controlled substance with intent to distribute
Possession of a schedule VI controlled substance with intent to distribute
Possession of drug paraphernalia
In addition to those charges, Soloman is charged with first-degree battery and first-degree terroristic threatening related to the initial assault.
The Texarkana Arkansas Police Department credited the "swift actions" and "coordinated communication" of the responding officers for resolving the dangerous situation and removing illegal drugs from the community.
