TxDOT launches ‘Drive Sober No Regrets’ Campaign to curb impaired driving

Texarkana, Texas — The Texas Department of Transportation is launching its "Drive Sober. No Regrets" campaign, a statewide effort to combat a rise in preventable fatal crashes. Last year, more than 1,200 people died in Texas due to impaired driving.

Officials emphasized that driving under the influence of marijuana is as dangerous as alcohol, noting that combining both substances makes a fatal crash 25 times more likely. The campaign honors Carly Beatty, a 19-year-old student killed by an impaired driver in 2019. Police are increasing enforcement through the weekend to identify and remove impaired motorists from Texas roads.
