MINDEN, La. - A West Monroe-based company was chosen from nine bidders to build a perimeter fence at the Minden Airport.

After review of bids by KSA Engineering, Delta Specialty Contractors LLC was the lowest responsive bidder meeting all requirements and specifications in the amount of $230,625 and was unanimously approved Wednesday during a meeting of the Minden City Council.

A grant application will be prepared to submit to the Federal Aviation Administration and the state Department of Transportation and Development.

“People don’t realize how valuable a fence is until you want to land a plane and there’s an animal on the runway,” Mayor Nick Cox said.

In addition, the airport is updating and establishing hangar fees with the council’s approval.
