SHREVEPORT, La. - The YMCA of Northwest Louisiana is warning the community about a fraudulent donation scheme taking place in local public areas.
Unauthorized individuals are approaching people in parking lots and public spaces seeking money under the YMCA name, specifically claiming to represent a "YMCA Veterans Facility".
YMCA management confirmed the organization does not operate a standalone veterans facility, nor does it conduct street, parking lot, or door-to-door solicitations. While veterans are welcome at all branch locations, the group does not run a joint housing or dedicated facility structure.
Officials advise anyone approached by these solicitors to notify venue management or local law enforcement immediately.
Legitimate contributions to the YMCA of Northwest Louisiana can only be made in person at physical branch locations or through the official YMCA NWLA website.
