U.S. Senate – Democratic nomination

U.S. Rep. Haley Stevens (D-Birmingham) was endorsed by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, former U.S. Rep. Brenda Jones, United Food and Commercial Workers International Union (UFCW) Local 876 and The Michigan Chronicle, Michigan’s oldest Black newspaper.

Abdul El-Sayed, seeking the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate, received endorsements this week from U.S. Sen. Ed Markey (D-Massachusetts), U.S. Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-Massachusetts), U.S. Rep. Greg Casar (D-Texas), U.S. Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-New Jersey), congressional candidate Chris Gilmer-Hill of Detroit, Oscar-winning filmmaker Michael Moore as well as the Wayne County Deputy Sheriff’s Association and the American Federation of Governmental Employees (AFGE) Local 704.

Congress

Common Defense, a grassroots veterans advocacy organization, and New York congressional candidate Claire Valdez endorsed William Lawrence in his bid for Democratic nomination to Michigan’s 7th Congressional District.

Also seeking the 7th District nomination is former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink who was endorsed by Eaton County Commissioner Jacob Toomey.

Christina Hines, seeking the Democratic nomination to Michigan’s 10th Congressional District, was endorsed by former Michigan Democratic Party Chair Mark Brewer and the Michigan Democratic Party Veterans Caucus.

Oakland University Trustee Colleen Ochoa Peters endorsed former state Rep. Tim Greimel for Michigan’s 10th Congressional District.

Eric Chung, Democratic candidate for Michigan’s 10th Congressional District, has been endorsed by the High School Democrats of America.

U.S. Reps. Steven Horsford (D-Nevada), Ayanna Pressley (D-Massachusetts), Ilhan Omar (D-Minnesota), and Lateefah Simon (D-California) endorsed state Rep. Donavan McKinney (D-Detroit) and Gen-Z for Change as he seeks the Democratic nomination to Michigan’s 13th Congressional District.

The 13th District’s incumbent, U.S. Rep. Shri Thanedar (D-Detroit), was endorsed by U.S. Reps. Cleo Fields (D-Louisiana), Greg Stanton (D-Arizona), Joe Neguse (D-Colorado) and Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-Illinois).

Governor

Wayne County Executive Warren Evans and Oakland County Executive David Coulter endorsed Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson in her Democratic gubernatorial bid, as did the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) Michigan.

Republican candidate for governor Perry Johnson was endorsed by Republican Michigan Board of Education member Nikki Snyder. Perry also announced his support for the Michiganders for Money Out of Politics ballot proposal.

Legislature

Lisa McIntyre was endorsed by the International Brothers of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 58 in the Democratic race for Michigan’s 22nd House District.

The Michigan Nurses Association and Rising Voices have endorsed Democrat Katrina Manetta for Michigan’s 58th House District
