Missouri voters resoundingly rejected major Republican priorities on Tuesday as proposals to eliminate the income tax and change the way initiative petition majorities are counted lost by large margins across the state.

In an election that drew what could be the highest primary vote totals this century, the two items that have been on the GOP agenda for years were beaten in almost every county of the state. The Associated Press called the race for both amendments at 8:15 p.m., with Amendment 4 losing by 63 percentage points and Amendment 5 down 67 percentage points.
