Great Falls, Mont. — Amazon opened a new delivery station in Great Falls as the company said Montanans can expect faster deliveries.
Amazon officials joined state and local leaders for the opening of the 35,000-square-foot facility on Friday. The event included applause as the group marked Amazon’s sixth facility in Montana.
The company said it had invested more than $200 million in Montana since 2010. Amazon also said it had donated more than $50,000 to local community partners and supported 1,400 jobs last year alone.
Sarah Rhoads, Amazon vice president of global workplace health and safety, pointed to the company’s reach in the state.
"There are over a thousand sellers that sell on the Amazon store from Montana and just last year alone, they sold over three million items. So, that’s incredible what that does for the local economies in addition to the jobs the facility such as this brings to Montana," she said.
About 50 employees were working at the facility. Amazon also said it was hiring flexible drivers to deliver packages to homes.
