Downtown Bozeman Federal Building Hits Market, Raises Questions Surrounding Post Office

The planned sale is part of a larger GSA property disposal effort that has been underway since January of 2025. The agency reported it had disposed of 127 properties and avoided more than $1 billion in maintenance and operating costs.

Bozeman, Mont. — A historic downtown Bozeman building that houses the post office is being put up for sale, raising questions about what comes next for the site on Babcock Street.

Federal offices and the U.S. Postal Service moved into the building in 1966. Now, 60 years later, the property has hit the market following an announcement on Thursday, July 23rd from the U.S. General Services Administration.
