MISSOULA, Mont. – A man observing a class at Sentinel High School was arrested for child sexual abuse and grooming charges.
The charges allege the suspect offered sex to a student after observing his class as a part of a level 300 class observation.
Court documents filed on July 28 included four charges against the suspect: sexual abuse of children - by means of communication, attempted sexual abuse of children - possession of materials, attempted sexual abuse of childred - travel with intent, and grooming a child for sexual offense - exploit a position of authority.
The first three charges were based on online interactions from November 2024 to September 2025, between the defendants and undercover officers on dating apps. Documents allege that the suspect sent numerous sexually explicit messages and nude images with officers pretending to be children. He also made plans to meet up with them for sex, documents say.
The fourth charge, related to grooming, is based on allegations that the suspect contacted a Sentinel High School student in a class he was observing.Â
The charge relates to alleged actions between January 2026 and February 28, 2026. According to court documents, a student told authorities on May 28 that the suspect had invited him over multiple times and offered him sex over SnapChat, all during the suspect’s time as a student teacher in the classroom.
The suspect was given a $100,000 bail and the judge refused to lower or waive it.
