MISSOULA, Mont. — A new summer program in Missoula aimed at helping kids with mental health support was set to give students and families another option while school was out.
Partnership Health Center announced the program for students in the Missoula area as summer break began for many children across Montana. The program was described as a first-time offering this summer for students who need support and resources. Isaiah Ruiz reported he spoke with Partnership Health Center School Based Behavioral Health Program Manager Rebecca Hamler about what the program could offer families during the summer months.
Hamler said the program could help children stay involved in camp activities while also getting behavioral support. She explained that support could also help parents keep working and connect with resources.
“Now that we have Our support, their parents can work, parents Can get access. To their connections and resources Kids can be at camp not only having fun and getting to do those activities, but they still have this. Behavior support Alongside to help them and and also help the staff. .” she said.
Hamler said she wanted the effort to continue beyond this summer and become a long-term option for families.
“I would like to build a program that's sustainable so that we can continue rolling out year to year. And that again, awareness in the community that I want parents and families to know there is a great place to send your kids, whether you're at parks and recreation camps or whether you're doing these groups with us that there is support,” she said.
Parents interested in registering a student were told they could call the school-based number at 406-836-9163 and could also register on the program website.
