PSC Listening Session

In this file photo, Public Service Commissioner Tony O’Donnell speaks during the Montana Public Service Commission Listening Session for the Northwestern Energy Resource Plan at the Billings Public Library in Billings in January 2020.

As proposals for new data centers in Montana pile up, Tony O'Donnell wants to try to protect ratepayers from risks posed by the energy-guzzling technology.

To that end, the former Public Service Commissioner and current Billings City Council member is seeking to weigh in on a NorthWestern Energy proposal that would affect the amount customers would pay for any new facility that might use 5 megawatts or more.
