Nearly 50 people crammed into a room on the second floor of East Helena City Hall to hear federal, state and county officials tell them of efforts to remove lead from contaminated soil to meet EPA standards.

Monday’s meeting in the LEAP (Lead Education and Assistance Program) offices was a discussion of upcoming yard cleanups in East Helena. The EPA, the Montana Department of Environmental Quality and members of Lewis and Clark Public Health provided updates on funding and timelines, and answered questions.
