If you want to get an idea of the range of influence the late author James Welch had, take a look at the guest list at the upcoming festival that celebrates the legacy of the Blackfeet/Gros Ventre writer and poet, who taught at the University of Montana.

“One of the things that makes Jim really special and unusual is that he wrote equally well in both genres,” said Sterling HolyWhiteMountain, a Blackfeet writer and UM graduate.
