Firefighters working to contain the Elder fire are preparing for changing conditions over the weekend as a dry cold front is expected to bring in winds reaching up to 40 miles an hour.

In a news release sent out Friday morning, Lolo National Forest stated that firefighters are confirming structure protection plans for the fire, approximately seven miles west of Frenchtown.
