Miles Miller, who was convicted last September of killing his mother in 2023, will not receive a new trial and will proceed to sentencing, a judge ordered last week.

Miller's sentencing was delayed multiple times over the last year as the question of a new trial was argued between the state and his defense attorneys, with his sentencing eventually set for Aug. 27 pending the final decision. After Missoula County District Court Judge Leslie Halligan denied Miller's request for a new trial in an order on July 9, that sentencing date will stand.
