This June 5 is National Gun Violence Awareness Day. Nationally, guns are the number one killer of children and teens ahead of car accidents and cancer. Tragically, my 9-year-old nephew was shot and killed with an unsecured gun. Montana also has one of the highest suicide rates in the country.

This day is about awareness and action. We can all play a role in preventing gun deaths by talking about secure storage and supporting local prevention efforts.
