There's a framed front page of the Missoula Sentinel newspaper from 1927 hanging in the Missoula County Fairgrounds office, and the top headline is about the Western Montana Fair coming up. The event was already 48 years old by that time, even though it took a few years off for World War I.

The 2026 version of the Western Montana Fair will be the most immense of all of them, in terms of expected crowds.
