A 21-year-old woman killed in a rollover crash Monday night in the Helena Valley has been identified as Alilliana Lamere, according to Lewis and Clark County Sheriff/Coroner Leo Dutton.
Lamere was pronounced dead at the crash scene around 9:30 p.m. from blunt force trauma. Dutton confirmed Wednesday she was pregnant at the time of the crash.
“We offer our condolences to the family,” Dutton said.
The crash happened around 8:30 p.m. near Greenfield Loop. Montana Highway Patrol reports that a Jeep Lamere was riding in was heading north on Green Meadow Drive approaching the intersection of Norris Road when the crash occurred.
The driver swerved to avoid a deer in the roadway and the vehicle went into a ditch, Dutton said.
The tires on the right side of the vehicle collided with an embankment, causing the vehicle to roll and hit a power pole, according to MHP.
The vehicle came to rest on its passenger side in a field near the 600 block of Greenfield Loop. The crash knocked down a power pole, resulting in the surrounding neighborhood temporarily losing power.
Lamere and a child in a car seat were riding in the rear seats at the time of the crash, MHP said. Preliminary evidence indicates there was no braking on the road or in the ditch, and that the driver and Lamere were not wearing seatbelts, according to an MHP spokesperson.
The driver was transported with serious, non-life-threatening injuries to a Helena hospital before being flown to Billings, according to MHP. The child passenger was not injured.
MHP is investigating the crash.
