An MSU researcher is providing knowledge on mushroom foraging following an incident where 11 people were hospitalized after suspected wild mushroom poisoning.

BOZEMAN, Mont. — Montana scientists are warning foragers to use expert identification help after 11 people in Park County were hospitalized for poisoning tied to wild mushrooms.

The hospitalizations happened Monday night after 10 adults and one minor ate wild-foraged mushrooms, according to Montana health officials. The Department of Public Health and Human Services said the poisoning appeared to be unintentional and was not connected to any restaurants or grocery stores.
