Some residents in the Seeley-Swan Valley say they're paying into Missoula County, but not seeing enough come back to their communities.

Condon, Mont. — Some residents in the Seeley-Swan Valley were exploring whether to break away from Missoula County and form what would become Montana’s 57th county.

The effort centered on communities around Potomac, Greenough, Seeley Lake and Condon. Supporters said concerns about roads, permitting and job losses had helped build support for the idea, including after the closure of Pyramid Lumber.
