LINCOLN — The Nebraska Democratic Party will decide at a state central committee meeting this week whether to fill a vacancy caused by its U.S. Senate candidate dropping out.

In a Lancaster County District Court affidavit, state party Chair Jane Kleeb said a vote to fill the vacancy that arose after U.S. Senate nominee Cindy Burbank dropped out of the race will be held during the committee’s “regularly scheduled meeting beginning on August 21, 2026.”
