LINCOLN — Former State Sen. Lynne Walz, Nebraska’s Democratic nominee for governor, unveiled her platform and day-one commitments Wednesday should she unseat Republican Gov. Jim Pillen, while sidestepping specifics at times about what they would look like.

The proposed “Lynne’s Commitment to Nebraskans” offers aspirations for the early days, long-term priorities and values for her administration should she win her uphill bid for governor. These range from addressing Nebraska’s growing deficit, a change from a $1.2 billion surplus four years ago to more than $750 million in the hole, to carrying out the legalization and regulation of medical cannabis as voters demanded in 2024.
