New Jersey health officials want parents to ignore an executive order President Donald Trump issued last week calling for fewer childhood vaccines, warning it likely will increase the risk of preventable illness and death nationally.

In an Aug. 10 order, Trump said children should get vaccinated against 11 diseases, instead of the 17 immunizations previously recommended, and called for splitting the vaccine for measles, mumps, and rubella — long administered as a single combined shot — into three shots given during separate medical visits.
