(The Center Square) — New York sued Kalshi on Friday alleging it has been running an "illegal gambling operation" in the Empire State through its prediction market and asking a state judge to shut down the platform.

In the lawsuit, filed in state Supreme Court, New York Attorney General Letitia James claims that Kalshi failed to get a license from the state Gaming Commission and pay related state taxes. James is seeking a court order to halt Kalshi’s operations in the state and force the company to pay fines, restitution and forfeit profits.
