(The Center Square) – Protection of women’s spaces, including sports, through North Carolina laws has been backed by a U.S. Supreme Court decision involving cases in West Virginia and Idaho.

Tuesday’s announced ruling by the nation’s highest court, setting landmark legal precedent, agreed with historical separation of girls competing against girls and not boys in girls sports. North Carolina is one of 27 states in alignment, having last year enacted Prevent Sexual Exploitation/Women and Minors (House Bill 805) and in 2023 having enacted the Fairness in Women’s Sports Act (House Bill 574).
