Collinsville Pirates eye gold after exit in third-round last season
COLLINSVILLE, Texas (KTEN) - "You know what they are. If we don't win it, we didn't do it, you know. It's one of those deals, it's funny we just dont celebrate anything other than a state championship."
Head Coach Garrett Patterson and his boys are ready for any challenge that awaits them, of course upping physicality to compete with those teams to the west come postseason, but at the end of the day speed kills.
"Man, we've got so many atheltes on the field. Last year, I felt like we were really big upfront and we could do a lot of things up front and run the ball and mash people. But this year we are just so athletic everywhere. You know, we are going to have to develop some lineman as far as offensivevley and defensively but other than that it's just really exciting.
Patterson's right, Cville took a big hit in the trenches,but they have their rock at Center Noe Cantu is the loen returner, but don't get it twisted. Cantu will have his group ready to feast.
"I'm making sure all of them are physical, because we can't have no soft people on the line. All of them are bullies,in the football field, not in school. I'm just making sure they are very aggressive protecting our QB, that;s our number one goal."
Junior Paxton Davidson takes on year at the helm after being thrown into the fire last season due to injuries, expect the mutlti sport stud to have a seaso with a loaded offense.
"You can expect a lot more. Last year, it was new to him, you know, he came into something he's never done before and obviously watching film, learning how to become a quatrterback is esstinatal for this kind of offense. So, him learning to do that this year is going to take a big step forward in us winning ball games."
