StoneX Group Inc.SNEX entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Banco Travelex S.A., Brazil’s first bank dedicated exclusively to foreign exchange operations. The acquisition is expected to strengthen StoneX’s global payments and foreign exchange (FX) capabilities and expand its presence in Brazil, one of Latin America’s largest FX markets. The transaction is expected to close within 12 months, subject to regulatory approval and customary closing conditions, with integration planned gradually without disrupting client services.
The transaction will enable StoneX to offer local and foreign currency bank accounts, non-resident accounts, proprietary PIX services, Internet and mobile banking, and enhanced settlement capabilities in Brazil. These offerings complement its existing spot FX, international payments, receivables and NDF businesses. The combined operation is expected to handle approximately $6 billion in annual volume across nearly 20,000 clients and create cross-selling opportunities.
The acquisition comes as StoneX continues to expand its Payments business. During the first nine months of fiscal 2026, Payments operating revenues increased 7% year over year to $173.3 million, while segment income rose 15% to $100.1 million. Payments average daily volume (ADV) increased 16% to $94 million, although revenue per million (RPM) declined 8% to $9,700, indicating pressure on revenue capture despite higher transaction volumes. In the third quarter of fiscal 2026, payments segment income increased 22% year over year to $34 million, while segment margin improved to 61% from 56% in the year-ago quarter, highlighting continued operating strength in the business.

The deal aligns with StoneX’s acquisition-led growth strategy to expand its product capabilities, geographic reach, and client relationships. Combining Banco Travelex’s local banking infrastructure with StoneX’s global network spanning more than 180 countries and 140 currencies could help broaden its client base, strengthen cross-border payment offerings and deepen relationships with financial institutions, corporates and global merchants. Its recent strategic investment in Bamboo Payments further supports its expansion of licensed, in-country payments infrastructure across Latin America.
Our Take on SNEX
The Banco Travelex acquisition is strategically positive for StoneX as it expands the company’s regulated payments and FX infrastructure in Brazil. The deal enhances its product offerings and creates opportunities to deepen client relationships, increase transaction volumes and cross-sell financial services across its global network.
However, continued pressure on Payments RPM remains a concern, as higher transaction volumes have not translated proportionately into revenue growth. Regulatory approvals, integration execution and the company’s ability to monetize the expanded Payments platform will be key factors in determining the transaction’s long-term success.

The transaction supports KEY’s strategy of expanding its fee-based revenue capabilities and strengthening its investment banking franchise by providing U.S.private equity sponsors and corporate clients with access to European acquisition targets and exit opportunities.
The acquisition is expected to enhance KEY’s cross-border advisory capabilities and broaden its M&A, private equity and debt advisory offerings. The deal builds on the companies’ collaboration since 2020 and is intended to strengthen KEY’s institutional banking growth strategy, while providing European clients with greater access to the U.S. M&A market. The transaction is expected to be closed in the second half of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals.

The acquisition is expected to deepen HWC’s Florida franchise, with the state’s share of pro forma deposits rising to about 21%, and add six financial centers to its footprint. The deal is also projected to generate $15.8 million in cost savings and high-single-digit GAAP earnings accretion, supporting HWC’s long-term growth and profitability. The company expects to complete the systems conversion in the fourth quarter of 2026, marking the final stage of integrating One Florida Bank into its operations.
