Shares of Alkermes ALKS have risen 26.5% in the past three months, driven by strong sales growth across its proprietary product portfolio and continued progress in its clinical pipeline.
Alkermes’ proprietary products include Vivitrol for alcohol and opioid dependence, Aristada for schizophrenia, Lybalvi for schizophrenia and bipolar I disorder and the newly acquired sleep disorder drug, Lumryz.
The company recently reported second-quarter 2026 results, wherein sales of its proprietary products portfolio grew 34% year over year to $411.7 million. Importantly, sales exceeded management’s guided range of $385-$405 million for the quarter.
Strong demand for its proprietary products is supporting Alkermes’ top-line growth and driving the stock, with the company expecting continued momentum through the remainder of 2026.
Year to date, shares of Alkermes have rallied 75.9% compared with the industry’s rise of 6.4%.

ALKS’ Strong Product Portfolio Aids Growth
In the first six months of 2026, Vivitrol and Aristada generated sales of $236.9 million and $190.5 million, respectively, up 6.4% and 9% year over year. Sales of both drugs benefited from underlying demand.
Notably, growth in the alcohol-dependence treatment market has helped drive new patients toward Vivitrol, while Aristada continues to generate steady sales.
In the first six months of 2026, Lybalvi generated sales of $186.3 million, up 20.7% year over year, driven by an increase in total prescriptions.
Alkermes added the narcolepsy drug Lumryz to its portfolio following the acquisition of Avadel Pharmaceuticals in February 2026. Lumryz generated $136.1 million in revenues during the first six months of 2026 following its addition to Alkermes’ portfolio.
Reflecting the growing momentum across its product portfolio, Alkermes expects Vivitrol sales to be in the range of $460-$480 million, while Aristada sales are anticipated in the range of $365-$385 million in 2026.
Lybalvi sales are expected to be in the range of $380-$400 million, while Lumryz sales are expected to be in the range of $315-$335 million in 2026.
ALKS' Ongoing Pipeline Development Activities
Alkermes is developing alixorexton, a novel, investigational, oral, selective orexin 2 receptor agonist for treating narcolepsy type 1 (NT1) and narcolepsy type 2 (NT2) in late-stage studies, as well as idiopathic hypersomnia (IH) in a mid-stage study.
In June 2026, the FDA granted orphan drug designation (ODD) to alixorexton for the treatment of IH. The European Commission also granted ODD to alixorexton for the treatment of patients with narcolepsy.
With certain clinical milestones expected later this year, successful development and potential approval of alixorexton could provide Alkermes with an additional long-term growth opportunity.
The consistent growth of its proprietary product portfolio, coupled with continued clinical progress with alixorexton, provides Alkermes with multiple growth drivers. These catalysts could support the company’s long-term growth prospects and help maintain positive momentum in the stock.
