AMKR’s Three-Month Price Performance

Amkor Technology’s stock has faced pressure from expected near-term weakness in the Communications segment, while $2.5-$3 billion in 2026 capital expenditures could weigh on cash flow. Meanwhile, the company’s third-quarter revenue guidance of $1.95-$2.05 billion suggests only modest sequential growth, raising concerns about near-term growth.
However, the steep drop in Amkor Technology’s shares may tempt investors to buy the dip. But given the company’s near-term challenges, is AMKR really worth buying at current levels? Let’s find out.
AMKR’s Advanced-Packaging Pipeline Boosts Prospects
Amkor Technology’s expanding advanced-packaging pipeline provides an important long-term growth opportunity as semiconductor architectures become increasingly complex, particularly across AI infrastructure, high-performance computing (HPC) and networking. The company has growing customer engagements across 2.5D, high-density fan-out (HDFO) and emerging co-packaged optics, with management citing 11 customers across multiple 2.5D programs and five customers with 10 active HDFO engagements. AMKR expects four 2.5D and four HDFO products to launch in 2026, while its newest data-center CPU program — the largest of these programs by scale — began ramping in the second quarter.
The pipeline is particularly attractive because it can drive higher-value product mix, utilization and earnings growth, rather than merely adding incremental revenues. Amkor Technology states that advanced packaging is becoming essential to system performance, encouraging customers to engage early in product development and across multiple generations. This is already supporting stronger fundamentals, with second-quarter revenues reaching a record $1.9 billion, up 26% year over year. Computing revenues also reached a record level and are expected to grow nearly 30% sequentially in the third quarter, driven by AI data-center demand and the HDFO CPU ramp.
The opportunity is further strengthened by Amkor Technology’s 10-year advanced-packaging agreement with TSMC and multi-year partnership with NVIDIA, which support capacity expansion, longer-term technology alignment and next-generation AI infrastructure. At the same time, Arizona, Korea, Vietnam, Portugal and Taiwan are being prepared to meet the growing demand for advanced packaging.
AMKR’s Global Footprint Strengthens Its Competitive Edge
Amkor Technology’s broad and strategically located manufacturing footprint is an important competitive advantage because it gives customers geographic flexibility, supply-chain resiliency and regional execution while allowing the company to support changing semiconductor demand across markets. Its facilities across key regions in Asia and Europe, combined with the planned Arizona facility, provide customers with multiple production options to diversify supply chains and support regionalization initiatives. As advanced packaging becomes increasingly important to system performance, customers are placing greater emphasis on manufacturing scale, technology leadership and supply-chain resiliency. Amkor Technology’s geographic diversity, therefore, strengthens its ability to capture opportunities tied to AI, HPC and other advanced semiconductor applications.
The footprint also provides a meaningful capacity allocation and efficiency advantage. Amkor Technology is expanding its Arizona facility for high-volume advanced packaging and test while adding manufacturing and cleanroom capacity in Korea and expanding facilities in Vietnam, Portugal and Taiwan. Importantly, the company is moving SiP products from Korea to Vietnam, where it can build greater efficiency and scale, while freeing Korean capacity for rapidly scaling, high-value computing programs. This ability to place the right products in the right locations can improve asset utilization and cost efficiency while allowing Amkor Technology to align capacity with the fastest-growing customer requirements.
AMKR Stock Trades Cheaper Than Industry
Amkor Technology shares appear attractively valued, supported by a Value Score of B. AMKR trades at a forward 12-month P/S of 1.75X, significantly below the industry average of 5.41X. The stock also trades at a lower multiple than peers Applied Materials (10.43X), Lam Research (12.15X) and Marvell Technology (13.64X), suggesting potential valuation upside if its growth prospects strengthen further.

AMKR’s Earnings Estimate Revision Shows Upward Trend
AMKR’s earnings estimate revisions reflect an upward trend, indicating a bullish sentiment.
The Zacks Consensus Estimate for third-quarter 2026 earnings is pegged at 79 cents per share, up 27.4% over the past 30 days and indicating a solid 54.9% growth over the year-ago quarter’s reported figure.
A similar trend is evident for full-year 2026, with the earnings estimate revised 26% upward over the same period to $2.62 per share, implying robust year-over-year growth of 74.67%.

Verdict: Buy AMKR Stock Now
Amkor Technology’s growth-driven prospects make the recent stock decline an attractive buying opportunity. Its expanding advanced-packaging pipeline, AI and HPC exposure, global manufacturing footprint, strategic partnerships with TSMC and NVIDIA, attractive valuation and upward earnings revisions support long-term growth. Despite near-term Communications weakness and elevated capital spending, improving earnings potential suggests AMKR stock is worth buying now for growth-focused investors.
