IonQ IONQ has been active on the collaboration front in August, announcing three new agreements. The company recently announced that it is expanding access to its commercial trapped-ion quantum computing systems through a collaboration with Canadian Microelectronics Corporation (CMC Microsystems). Under a newly signed memorandum of understanding (MOU), IonQ will serve as a listed cloud quantum computing access provider for the Quantum Computing Sandbox (“QCS”).

The QCS is operated through FABrIC, backed by funding from Canada's Strategic Response Fund and managed by CMC Microsystems. The initiative offers engineering support and cloud quantum computing access to Canadian academics and small-to-medium-sized enterprises. It also expands IonQ’s commercial technology to more Canadian researchers and businesses.
