HELENA — Friday and Saturday, April 14 and 15, mark the 105th anniversary of the sinking of the RMS Titanic on its maiden voyage from Britain to New York City.

Less than 24 hours after RMS Titanic struck an iceberg in the North Atlantic, Billings residents 3,000 miles away were reading the first dispatches from Halifax, Nova Scotia, the nearest port to the scene of unimaginable tragedy.

Adam Jahiel hadn’t signed on with a 1987 expedition to the Titanic with an expectation that he would find himself two-and-a-half miles below the cold surface of the North Atlantic.
