Wardle gets prison in Catherine Sorensen case

A Gallatin County judge opted not to follow a plea deal calling for probation in the case of a 57-year-old man who pleaded guilty in June to witness tampering — a case in which the defendant was originally accused of assaulting his wife, Catherine Sorensen, in 2022. Sorensen taught music at St. Mary's Catholic School in Livingston before her death in 2023 at age 55.

Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen criticized Gallatin County Attorney Audrey Cromwell’s handling of the Christopher Wardle domestic violence case and requested a report and case list, while Cromwell responded that ethical rules limit what she can say about the still-pending prosecution and defended her office’s domestic violence and strangulation work.
