Mizzou forward Mark Mitchell, right, is guarded by Kentucky forward Mouhamed Dioubate (23) in the second round of the SEC Tournament on Thursday, March 12 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn. Mitchell entered the transfer portal Friday after receiving an extra season of eligibility following a preliminary injunction in Colorado. The injunction applies to all high school class of '22 athletes who exhausted their eligibility in the spring.

Former Mizzou men’s basketball player Mark Mitchell received a fifth year of eligibility following a class-wide preliminary injunction in the U.S. District Court of Colorado to give all players from the high school class of 2022 an extra year of eligibility who exhausted their four seasons in the spring. The news of the injunction was first reported by Boise State associate professor Sam Ehrlich.

Mitchell entered the transfer portal several hours after the decision was announced, first reported by Jeff Borzello of ESPN. The report said Mitchell has spoken with multiple schools in the past several weeks as he considers his options.
