(The Center Square) – Survivors of childhood sexual assault and their advocates gathered in front of California’s Capitol on Thursday morning to advocate for protections for children in foster care and the state’s juvenile justice system.

Advocates told The Center Square following a press conference that there are apparent plans in Sacramento to introduce legislation to prevent limits on the money that abused children can get from legal settlements. Advocates also said proposed legislation would prevent special standards being imposed on evidence in court - standards that would uniquely burden sexually-abused, raped and beaten children.
