(The Center Square) - Despite Democrats having a majority in both chambers of the Colorado General Assembly, Democratic Gov. Jared Polis vetoed 12 bills in the 2026 legislative session. That outranks his previous personal veto record of 11 set in 2025.

Colorado Democrats have maintained control of the Legislature since 2018 - when they were able to flip the Senate while maintaining control of the House of Representatives. There are 23 Democrats and 12 Republicans in the Senate, and 43 Democrats to 22 Republicans in the House.
