NATCHITOCHES, La. - The Natchitoches Police Department is investigating a Saturday morning shooting that left one person injured.
Officers patrolling the 7200 block of Highway 1 By-Pass around 1:58 a.m. noticed a large crowd leaving a local bar and creating a traffic hazard. While clearing the roadway, police received word from Natchitoches Regional Medical Center that a person had arrived with multiple gunshot wounds to the lower body.
Investigators located the shooting scene in a nearby parking lot and interviewed witnesses. Officers also searched the area for bullet casings and other evidence, which will be sent to a crime lab for analysis.
Medical personnel later transferred the victim to a Caddo Parish hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.
