Areas of Louisiana that saw physical damage from Tropical Storm Arthur in June have been given more time to apply for assistance from the Small Business Administration, the agency announced Tuesday.
The SBA has also extended the impact period from the storm that passed through June 17 for a full week, allowing business owners to claim any damage that occurred by June 24 when they apply for assistance. The new deadline for applications is Oct. 1.
Physical disaster loans from the SBA are only available to damaged businesses in Avoyelles, Lafourche, Pointe Coupee, St. Landry, St. Tammany and Terrebonne parishes.
Economic injury disaster loans are available to business owners in Acadia, Assumption, Catahoula, Concordia, Evangeline, Iberville, Jefferson, Lafayette, LaSalle, Orleans, Rapides, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St James, St. John the Baptist, St. Martin, St. Mary, Tangipahoa, Washington, West Baton Rouge and West Feliciana parishes. Hancock and Pearl River counties in Mississippi are also eligible.
The deadline for economic injury disaster loans remains March 30, 2027.
Loan applicants must have a credit history acceptable to the SBA and demonstrate the ability to repay their loans.
Applicants may call the SBA Customer Service Center with questions regarding their application at (800) 659-2955 or email disastercustomerservice@sba.gov.
