SHREVEPORT, La. — Three organizations that have helped shape Shreveport’s sports and arts communities are celebrating a shared milestone.
The Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl, Red River Revel and Shreveport Regional Arts Council each turn 50 this year. The organizations celebrated together Saturday by unveiling a limited-time history exhibit, “50-Year Reflection: A Historic Exhibit.”
The exhibit, located inside artspace in downtown Shreveport, features photos and memorabilia highlighting pivotal moments, memorable events and the people who have helped shape the organizations over the past five decades.
Organizers say the collaboration celebrates the region’s history and cultural impact.
Erik Evenson, executive director of the Independence Bowl, said it is especially meaningful that all three organizations were established in 1976 and continue to serve the community 50 years later.
“There were a lot of people involved from the very beginning with the Independence Bowl who were also involved in forming the Revel and the beginning of SRAC,” Evenson said. “It’s been kind of cool to see the overlap of those organizations.”
Rebecca Bonnevier, executive director of the Shreveport Regional Arts Council, encouraged the public to visit the exhibit and recognize those who have contributed over the years.
“We want to thank the people that have contributed in the past and make sure that people want to keep contributing as we go forward so that we can celebrate another 50 years,” Bonnevier said.
“50 Year Reflection” will remain on display at artspace during normal gallery hours through Oct. 9.
