BOSSIER CITY, La. — Bossier Parish Community College announced it has been selected as an education partner for Amazon’s Career Choice program, giving hourly employees at the Shreveport 1 fulfillment center access to specialized technical certification.
The partnership focuses on the Career and Technical Certificate in Industrial Technician. The one-semester program is designed for advanced industrial settings, combining core theory with hands-on training in electricity, fluid power, and mechanical systems.
The curriculum covers essential skills including circuit analysis, electromagnetism, pneumatic air system design, and power transmission technology. Students will also learn machinery maintenance and troubleshooting.
"We are incredibly proud to join forces with a global innovator like Amazon to offer their employees a transformative opportunity to upskill in high-demand fields through our Industrial Technician program," said Rick Bateman, Jr., Bossier Parish Community College chancellor. "This partnership exemplifies the very heart of BPCC’s mission: to deliver world-class workforce solutions that not only elevate individual lives but also strengthen the economic fabric of our region."
The Amazon Career Choice program is an education benefit that allows employees to learn new skills for career success at Amazon or other companies. The initiative includes pre-paid college tuition, industry certifications, and foundational skills such as English language proficiency and GED programs.
Amazon uses a rigorous selection process for its third-party partner educators, focusing on institutions that assist with job placements and career success.
